We are a Group Study Exchange {GSE} team from Rotary District 6950 which will be visiting Rotary District 4360 in Concepcion, Chile. This Blog was created as a place for our team to share this experience through our thoughts and photos. Below is a brief explanation what the Rotary Foundations Group Study Exchange is meant to foster.
The purpose of the Rotary Foundations Group Study Exchange is to promote international understanding and good-will through person-to-person contact. It was established in 1965 and has been successful at the personal, community, and international level. While abroad, team members stay in local Rotarians’ homes and have the opportunity to meet their professional counterparts through various vocational visits. The teams will also give presentations to Rotary clubs as well as other groups about their home country and life in their Rotary district. These presentations are given from a personal perspective with the intent of allowing the audience to connect with the team on a "micro-cultural level" rather than gain information from a “global-macro” perspective.
We hope that through the use of this blog, we will be able to share our experience with others and allow them to gain a the same understanding of the local culture and people again from the "micro" level.
